Purpouse of the Course
“This year, our Course reaches it’s 10th anniversary edition.
Over the last decade we have structured the course content around a didactic interactive format, using live surgery and a very popular hands-on component to demonstrate, rehearse and re-enforce learning objectives. These are further supplemented by Clinical Case problem-based learning with interactive discussion and debate.
In recent years, with a change in generations, we have noted a change in the published RIRS results, with an increase of intra and postoperative complications. These may be due to a poorly understood-incorrect application of the technique’s fundamental principles where patient safety should be paramount.
With more than 10 collective decades of experience amongst the senior faculty, the aim of this year’s course is to re-emphasize key technical aspects of URS and RIRS in order to improve results amongst current generations of practitioners (both trainee, novice and experienced), in order to maximize operator comfort, minimize complications, and optimize patient safety and treatment outcomes.
To reach this goal, we have invited the co-operation of a diverse national and international faculty of seasoned expert urologists who have pioneered and championed the use these techniques in their daily practice for several decades, and who have taught them in courses throughout the world.
We both very much look forward to meeting all of you in the wonderful city of Rome in June for our 10th anniversary International course, which will once again be held in a cordial and interactive atmosphere with a high delegate to faculty ratio, where your active participation is strongly encouraged. The more you actively interact with the available experts both during course activities, breaks and social functions, the better will be your learning experience!
